Licensing schemes
The costs of obtaining a landlord licence vary from borough to borough in London, and throughout the country. To obtain a licence, landlords must meet the standards of the scheme’s rules and regulations, and risk a fine of up to £5,000 per offence if they fail to do so. Some landlords are challenging the cost of licensing schemes, so it’s possible that the costs may fall.
